As a Physician I will tell you that a constant reading like this should be treated. You don't mention your age, weight or if you smoke. I would suggest having a Doctor examine you. He/she may want to start you on a lower sodium diet, some exercise and more Potassium in your diet before treating this with medication. High Blood Pressure is a silent killer. I suggest making an appointment with your doctor.

It is very high and you should get it treated so that you don't have a stroke or heart or kidney damage...
Also there is a DASH diet for BP.

If you aren't having symptoms like head ache or chest heaviness you are lucky. You need to get your pressure down as high blood pressure can lead to stroke or heart attack. The text book norm is 120/80 Anything over 150 top and 85 bottom is considered in the area of needing treatment

That's pretty high...is that your normal blood pressure? The most accurate way to find out your blood pressure is to take it several times throughout the week, and average it. Just because one reading is particularly high, doesn't mean that it's normally high.
You should talk to a doctor if your blood pressure is normally this high. Proper diet, exercise, and medications can go a long ways towards getting that blood pressure to a healthier number.
High blood presssure (hypertension) can cause or contribute to heart disease, strokes, and other nasty medical conditions.

It is unsafe in that the long-term effects of elevated blood pressure is devastating to the heart. The difference between the systolic and dyastolic pressures is also of concern,as it could be indicative of problems.
You should see a doctor who can prescribe medication to help lower your pressure.

this is a high reading. high enough to damage your kidneys and other blood vessels over time. you definitely need to see a doctor for this before it gets any higher and could cause a stroke which happened to a friend of mine 40 years old.
