I was on prednasone for an eye problem about two years ago. It helped me but, there are a lot of side effects such as over eating, swelling of the face and it will cause you to have high blood sugar. I felt inhuman when I was taking it. I had to be weened off of it because, I was having to take four a day. I sure hope you don't have the same problem I did. If you see that you are starting to swell or that your blood sugar is high (you should have it checked often when on this), you should go to your doctor and have them put you on something that will help you without hurting you at the same time.

I've been on it several times, this doesn't exactly sound right

More normal you start with about 4 pills a day, for 3 or 4 days, then 3 pills a day for 3 or 5 days, then 2 pills a day, then 1 a day some Drs taper down to 1/2 pill a day

If you were doing 3 or 4 pills a day then stopped, this can cause problems

Maybe your dr will let you use something like Asmenx.

Predisone is not a drug that you should be on all of the time. It is generally used in a severe case and only for a short term. My son was recently on 10 pills a day for 6 days then decreased 1 pill a day until done all pills. If stopped suddenly your symptons can return and actually be worse. I suggest that you get a second opinion and find out what medicines will work for you. You need a preventive inhaler, antihistamines, or even allergy needles to get your syptoms under control. Best of Luck.

I don't think prednisone is the first-line of treatment for chronic respiratory illnesses. I really think you should get a referral to a Chest Specialist, or at the very least, a second opinion.

Do you mean "Prednisone"?
Prednisone may increase the risk that you will develop osteoporosis. Talk to your doctor about the risks of taking prednisone and about things that you can do to decrease the chance that you will develop osteoporosis.
