My partner takes 150mg of toprol XL (metoprolol ) a day. The price is really breaking us.
I see it was aproved for generic last June (25mg)
Any idea when it will be available?
Are there any REPUTABLE Canadian pharmacy we can use?

The Toprol xl 25 mg should be availabe at your nearest pharmacy as we speak, however it seems your partner would require six tabs a day, that would probably cost more than taking 100mg and half tab of 100mg (tabs can be split if you don't chew them).

It is available. Check at Walgreen's. I've approved it in recent weeks for many of my patients. Unfortunately, I believe only the 25 mg size is available, but he could take 6 of them to make up the total dose.

Also, check at Sam's Club, or Walmart, for their $4.00 prescriptions. I don't believe that Toprol XL (even the generic) is on the plan, but if your partner has CHF, he is on a boatload of medication, and some of his meds may be available on the plan. Or his cardiologist can switch him to some generics on the plan.

Good luck.

Toprol XL has several patent dates. The patent will run out on 2/15/08.

I have you talked to the doc about the price? Some get samples for the drug reps and give to patients that cannot afford them. Alos there are other drugs in the same class(beta-blocker) that are just as effective. DO NOT STOP TAKING THIS MED>

Toprol is made via a corporation referred to as AstraZenica. you may seem them up on line and doubtless they are going to have the educational there. meanwhile, you would be able to desire to have your wellbeing practitioner write you a script for 2 50mg pills instead of one 100mg pill with a view to get the typical. docs are often prepared to try this.
