I am very sorry to hear that you are using antibiotic for your son to get rid of his phlegm from his lungs.Antibiotics is a medicine which will suppress the whole matter and will not get rid of it . I suggest you stop the antibiotic and change to Homeopath if he is not allergic to it and use SILICEA / PULSATILLA 200 pills 4 times daily, which will help him get rid of the phlegm from his lungs by stools or even vomiting if it is in excess ,after which he should be feeling well .Do give him some mutton or chicken broth if he is nonvegitarian or give him some vegetable soup with a lot of spices to increase the body temperature .This has nothing to do with low mussel tone he is weak because enough oxygen is not getting into the blood stream,he might be looking frail and week only due to the use of antibiotic I sincerely advice to look for other options too.Do give good nutreious food for him to get back his energy to withstand the coughs after the use of this hoemeo medicines as you will see a drastic change in his eating habits after this usage of the Homeo medicine.Wishing you all the luck in getting your sons health back to normal.

mustard plaster:
Mix 1/2 teaspoon of dried mustard power with 3 to 4 tablespoons of while flour.
Add enough water to make a watery paste.
Spread the paste on a kitchen towel (not a wash cloth) and fold the towel into a rectangle about 3 by 6 inches, covering the paste. Never put the paste directly on your chest; it may burn, Place the towel right over your breasthone (the bronchi are directly beneath that area).
Fill a hot_water bottle with hot not scalding water and put it directly over the towel.
Leave the plaster on for at least an hour, but remove it if it becomes too hot. Repeat every 3 to 4 hours until you feel better.

You aren't providing the age of your son, so you will get recommendations all over the map. The best thing for breaking up mucus in the chest is guafenesein. This is actually the same chemical that makes peppers hot and works great to break up mucus (think of runny noses during spicy food). This is the active ingredient in expectorants cough medicines. This means that they break up mucus. It is also the active ingredient in mucinex, which is the product I recommend.

There is a method of cupping your hand and patting the upper back (with some force) to loosen up the sputem in the lungs. And there is a better way to cough which a pulmonary specialist can tell you about. Lots of water helps. It doesn't help to lay without much movement. Movement can help loosen up things also.

Soloman's Seal Tea rather helps lots to minimize the urge to cough higher than any cough drops. One more thing that reduces the urge to cough, for that reason stopping the anguish and harm from coughing an excessive amount of, licorice, actual typical licorice, now not artificial flavouring.

REMEDY - for a productive cough, you need warm liquid, and are best helped with citrus. Hot lemonade always worked best for me. Especially if he sounds dry, he needs to drink as much plain water as he is able to keep down. That will help more than I can tell you.
