I recently joined a weight loss clinic and was put on a metabolic enhancer, flaxseed, multivitamins and protein shakes to loose weight. But, I have been feeling anxious, jittery, and cannot sleep. I'm 44. When I talked to the clinic they said not to be concerned. Should I be concerned? Something doesn't sit right with me especially if my body is telling me different. Any information would be appreciated.

Hay, give your doctor a call. Did you talk to your weight loss clinic or your medical clinic? If I were you I'd give your doctor a call.

You need to find out what's in that so-called metabolic enhancer. From what you're saying about the effects it's having on you, it probably contains amphetamines. These are extremely dangerous, and illegal without a prescription. Believe me, no one at that so-called clinic can possibly be prescribing this stuff. In addition, protein shakes aren't necessary. The only thing that's necessary is to follow a well-balanced diet, eating a variety of foods from each food group on a daily basis.

Ignore the answer before mine. Herbal does not equal safe. Ephedra (ma huang) is an herb and it can kill. In fact, it's the herb that all amphetamies are based on.

You are being taken for an expensive, dangerous and probably illegal ride here. Stop attending that clinic now, and see your doctor to make certain that these idiots haven't damaged your health. And report them to the authorities, even if you haven't had your health damaged. That's because someone will be harmed by these people if you continue to allow them to operate as they are.

I used to work at a weightloss clinic here in Colorado and it sounds like the same one you joined in Texas. -MRC- While all of the supplements and vitamins are very healthy, the enhancer contained natural herbs that, on some poeple, can give them a reaction like that. We were not allowed to sell the enhancer to anyone who had a blood pressure above 140/90. If you ever feel anxious or jittery, you should immediately stop what ever you are taking. If you notice that you immediately go back to feeling "normal", then I would say that you are definitely having a reaction to one of the herbs in the enhancer.

the 130 is ok but the 90 sounds like you are loading up on the sodium so much of the OTC stuff has in them like maybe the enhancer .....sodium causes you to retain fluid and will run you diastolic bp up on you.....check with your doctor about it or take to him and see if it is ok with your medicine especially since your running on the high side on diastolic....also be sure not to be eating salty snacks and foods

That is a very high blood pressure. I would go check with my GP and see if it is safe.

That's something you should be asking your doctor
