well I think a Sancocho is a combo plate inspired by the Tainos that lived here & the Spaniards that came to the Caribban and Latin America. I don't know exactly where this originated but I can say the Puertorican & Dominican sancocho are almost identical and our sancocho I found to be very different in seasonings and looks from the Colombian type, which is good but I really love ours with some "pegao" or raspa de arroz blanco y una buena rajita de aguacate.

I thought it was Puerto Rican!

According to Wiki: it's in alot of countries & not native to just one
