No disrespect and certanly NOT a racist question, but most other Countries have produced a famous chef or two, has the Asian Indian community any "celebrity" male chefs/cooks, or is it not a male "thing" in the Indian resturants/kitchens.

I couldn't agree more, It's like walking on eggs and broken glass. I wonder if I would have been treated with the same respect, I doubt it after recent events.

It was a simple question Jimmy, but, you brought the race 'thing' into it. It only shows how far we have stooped to accommodate immigrants and how much we fear the anti racists when we have to apologise for asking a simple question which mentions nationality!!

Indians Males are not shown on TV. Most chefs are male. However the Western media do not want Indian male to be seen in a positive light, so you will see that there are so may female Indian / Pakistanis Chefs, Madhur Jaffery, Manju Mali, Anjum Anand, and so the list goes on. The only chefs they will show, are Rezza Mohammed, a camp person. Even when we look at the broader pastiche, I have counted nearly 60 female Indian presenters, to one male presenters. In the case of sports not one Indian is shown or given the opportunity. They will showcase the female but not the male, as it is the Lion pride principal, a female will be happily accepted in society but the male is fought off. Certainly in England the threat is Indians so to not portray the Indian male as being the alpha they are ridiculed. Remember that often ridicule is used as a tool to suppress people that the main stream are scared of. It is strange that when the national dish of England is Indian food, that only two chefs are Michelin Starred. Indian food is probably the most prolific and arguably the best food in the world. Even when we look at Australia, NZ, Canada, USA, it is widely the food most people will crave. Yet strange is it not that there are so few Indian male chefs. When we look at the facts the average cuisine now has a mainstream household Indian ingredients. Just look at Jamie Oliver, Rick Stein and James Martin who's food is a poor rendition of Indian food, however they get air time and celebrity status. All of the back of food they know little about!

Most Indian restaurants in UK are Bangladeshi and not Indian except few like Chutney Mary, Bombay Brasserie etc. but what I have seen is that every celebrity chef on UK TV will present Indian dishes as if Indian chefs are not available (Many a time a laughable concoction - Floyd's breaking coconut with a hammer) That's the fault of TV producers and their viewers. There are many great chefs in India and are doing a fine job of their art. you need good TV producers to be little more innovative and true to their viewers. India is a mini continent so little research is needed. Incidently every where in the world where quantity cooking is done it is always a male thing.

Madur Jeffrey is amazing. Theres an Indian male chef UKTV Bright Ideas but I can't remember his name. He did an indian food show presented with the comediane from the Kumars at No 42.
Its only in about the last 10 years that we've had celebrity chefs in this country where men have been at the forefront, so its probably nothing specific about Indian culture. Maybe noone has filled the market for it yet.

Atul Kochhar is the only one that springs to mind from his appearances on great British menu & others.
Also Rezza Mohammed from his series coconut coast & delhi belly
Madhur Jaffrey well known for her books & TV work.
Main problem I think for indian chefs has been that their cuisine has only started to be taken seriously in recent years, they have had to work hard to shake off the image of flock wallpaper & lurid chicken tikka massala. Now that people are starting to realise how diverse & subtle indian cuisine can be I am sure that there will be more & more indian chefs becoming "celebrities"
