My friend's mum had an open heart surgery and is now in coma.
When will she wake up? Is she in a "death threatening" situation?
Please enlightened me as I am most concern about this matter.

I would say calm down, support you friend, visit his mumif possible, stay positive and wait 48-72 hours before you become concerned and then get update from your friend , there is really nothinh you can do in this situation but provide emotional support and wait for her to get well.

Take it easy Walker, tell your friend that she will pull through, she must be in CCU, no problem it's a normal SOP in most patients. However elderly are always kept in CCU, so that no further develops.
It will take about 48 Hours.

A lot of times the balloon treatment works wonders without surgery, but I don't remember its technical name.

hi.
my mom had the same surgery wen she was 72 and everything went just fine.
I think the problem not in type of surgery - it is in quality and proffessionalism of doctors.
