Say the alphabet, out loud, very slowly and clearly - really focusing on each letter and pronouncing it clearly.

Try any of the following::

Ordinary hiccups are cured easily with no medical practices needed; in most cases they can be stopped simply by sitting down and concentrating on breathing patterns (deep breaths) for 1–2 minutes. However there are a number of anecdotally prescribed methods to treat casual cases of hiccups, these include being startled, drinking water while upside down, eating something very sweet or very tart (particularly lemon juice) , anything that interrupts ones breathing, and a variety of other treatments.
Good luck !

I found the best cure for hiccups and have used it for years while working in bars. You have to take a drink, water is best, while someone closes the holes over your ears. The change in pressure resets the diaphram. With a bit of practice you can do it on yourself, pint glass of water and thumbs in ears. Try it next time.

SLOW breathing does work as it makes the diaphram relax. the noise is made by the rapid inhalation of air passing the vocal chords in the throat, caused by the negative pressure created by the diaphram. Hiccups are a pain in the ..... but slow breathing does work.

Drink a glass of water backwards - I PROMISE you, it works every single time! Half a pint, bend over and put the glass to your upper lip and gulp it all slowly. I think you get them due to air under your diaphragm, so I guess this reverses it TRY IT NOW! Then give me 10 points...

Try drinking water from the opposite side of the glass. You have to bend over to do it, with your head completely upside down. Works every time!

Have you tried taking a really deep breath then holding it as long as you can? It might take two or three goes, but I never got the hang of drinking upside down!

Get a paper bag, put it over your mouth. Breathe in and out of the bag with your mouth for few seconds.

Hiccups is like getting an air bubble in your central heating - but worse. We all get it from time to time.
There are lots of 'granny' cures. But the one that works best is - ride it out.
(Hope by now they have gone. If not, see a doctor - quick!)
