I have been having a really funky smelling discharge for a couple of months now and everytime I have sex I have a really bad pain in my lower stomach. The pain is so bad I don't want to have sex anymore. My boyfriend was married to a woman that was cheating on him and I found a prescription bottle of Doxycycline in the medicine cabinet after she moved out. Could he have gotten something from her and had no sypmtoms for the past two years. I had a baby in November of 2005 and nothing came up then so I am very confused.

Chlamydia is a common sexually transmitted disease (STD) caused by the bacterium, Chlamydia trachomatis, which can damage a woman's reproductive organs. Even though symptoms of chlamydia are usually mild or absent, serious complications that cause irreversible damage, including infertility, can occur "silently" before a woman ever recognizes a problem. Chlamydia also can cause discharge from the penis of an infected man.

Chlamydia is the most frequently reported bacterial sexually transmitted disease in the United States. In 2004, 929,462 chlamydial infections were reported to CDC from 50 states and the District of Columbia. Under-reporting is substantial because most people with chlamydia are not aware of their infections and do not seek testing. Also, testing is not often done if patients are treated for their symptoms. An estimated 2.8 million Americans are infected with chlamydia each year. Women are frequently re-infected if their sex partners are not treated.

Chlamydia can be transmitted during vaginal, anal, or oral sex. Chlamydia can also be passed from an infected mother to her baby during vaginal childbirth.

Any sexually active person can be infected with chlamydia. The greater the number of sex partners, the greater the risk of infection. Because the cervix (opening to the uterus) of teenage girls and young women is not fully matured, they are at particularly high risk for infection if sexually active. Since chlamydia can be transmitted by oral or anal sex, men who have sex with men are also at risk for chlamydial infection.

Many women with gonorrhea do not have symptoms. If symptoms ARE experienced, they may include inflammation of the reproductive system, rectum, or mouth, depending on where the infection is located. A woman may experience unusual vaginal discharge (drip), pain or bleeding during or after sex, and pain or burning during urination. A man may experience a thick, yellow or greenish discharge or pus from the penis, and pain or burning during urination.

Ummm, go to the doctor .

P.S. Doxycycline is used to treat Anthrax too. Maybe she had that! hehe But really...that antibiotic is used for a number of things, not just an STD. Like bronchitis, acne, anthrax... different stuff. Don't get stuck on what the antibiotic was for, just go to the doctor.

You definitely should seek medical attention for this. Doxycycline is an antibiotic. You could cause a lot more health problems by not seeking medical help. Your health is more important than worrying about embarrassment.

If your "Smell" is "FISHY" it is probably chlamydia... go to the Health DEpt they can do a swab test, even a urine test and in 24- 48 hours have the results, even the dr's office can do the tests. Yes a man can carry chlamydia, pass it to a woman and never know he has it.

You might have an infection. Just talk with your doctor so it doesn't get any worse then what it is. The last time that happened to me I had a Vaginal Bacterial Infection. Just like a UTI mixed with a yeast infection.
