Yeah, we do eat food other than Chinese food.
I think I know why you don't see them at any other restaraunts. A lot of the time when you travel to a foreign country (which is probably the case for them) you will want to stay close to your culture because it lessens the culture shock. I suppose that's the case with them.
Chinese are like most other people, we're quite open to different cultures and such. Perhaps your impression of Chinese may be a more strict kind of family.

Do you live in a location with Chinese people? If there arne't any Chinese people then they may be the reason why they are not eating at your restaurants.
It also depends on what cuisine is being served. For the most part, Chinese people do not like American cuisine. typically American cuisine has too much meat, little vegetables and not enough starch.
I also feel that American cuisine fails to bring harmony in taste as does Chinese and Italian cuisine and lacks dimension. these are qualities that Chinese people will look for in cuisine.

I'd like to, but I wouldn't dare. I live in Long Island, New York, and if I appear at a restaurant that's not Chinese, there would be racist people yelling at me or the waiter/waitress wouldn't serve me. Believe me, I tried several times. After a while, I gave up.

Wow, I didn't know there were so many ignorant and narrow minded people out there. I guess us Asian folks can't blame you for the ignorance, it reflects upon you and all those around you including your family, friends and peers. So you become a product of your environment. BTW, not all Asians are Chinese, but then again judging from your question, I didn't think you had the capacity to know that either. Just like I'm sure you think someone who is from the middle east are all Iraqi's.
In my personal experience, I love eating out at many different restaurants but then again I've been here all my life. My parents on the other hand were used to eating the same kinds of foods all their lives. They would like to eat out more often but they don't know what they're ordering, what kind of restaurant it is or what its going to taste like. Plus many Asians eat as a family so we like to bring most food home where we feel more comfortable being. Apparently not eating out at many restaurants is a good thing for many Asians because we're the skinniest race of people on the planet, which the same thing can't be said for many Americans.
Same way with other ethnic people in this country and even whites and blacks...people are a little nervous about trying something different because they're not used to it. So before you're so quick to judge and be so condescending just look at yourself, your lack of sensitivity and knowledge only makes you more prone to say things that might upset the wrong person one day.

Of course they do. My wife is chinese and they own a chinese restaurant in wilsonville, oregon.
Most of the younger generations eat out as much as others. However, when it comes to the older generation, they tend to stick to what they are used to eating.
That's not to say that they don't like any other type of food. When I cook hamburgers or hot dogs or something, they love it. They are just used to eating what they have been eating for most of their lives.
As a younger generation though. We eat all types of food. I love Mexican food more than anything else...

Hi. Happy Sabbath. Your question was not rude, disrespectful,ant-ethnic or racist at all. I often wonder the same thing in attempt to learn about other groups. I believe in people trying each other's foods. Anyway, I did see an Asian person (I don't want to ***--ume that person was Chinese...) order some KFC last Thursday. However, I also remember another Asian person who was selling videos & DVD's. I asked her to try some of our soul food...she seemed nervous...shook her head no and quickly left. I've never seen an Asian person eat collard greens, etc., but just bc we've never seen this doesn't mean it doesn't happen.
It would be good for all people to sample food...to take a multi-cultural taste test. It's also important to respect someone else's food restrictions. (i.e. For religious reasons, I don't eat pork, shellfish, etc.) Take care.

Usually the older generation, especially those who emigrated from China, tend to prefer food they grow up with and therefore familiar with. Most local born and bred will try just about any cuisine they fancy. But when one has to do a family feast, one will have to cater to the older folks, so most likely will end up having Chinese food. I bet this is the same with any family, regardless of the racial background.

In China we rarely eat foreign food because most of us don't have the chance.Foreign restaurants can be found in big cities only, and they're usually expensive.Plus,we like to use chopsticks, and eat vegetables.
Asian food are more popular here, such as Japanese food,Thai food.French food and Italian food are also popular.
I love to eat foreign food but Chinese food is always my first choice.

Doesn't sound like you get out of your small town much. But yea millions of Chinese everywhere in the world DO eat other ethnic cuisine besides their own; after all we CHINESE INVENTED EATING in restaurants thousands of years ago when all of Europe was in the Dark Ages and the Americas were populated only with natives - that means no white people.

This will depend on where your location is. Chinese eats practically everything. Anything not poisonous is food for the chinese. Maybe your area has a very small chinese community. Try to see the world out of your own country.
