Personally i dont like either belching or farting publicly, because thats just nasty.but if in some country they think its a compliment then that idea comes from this logic, see if the food is good, you tend to eat to please both your appettite and taste, you dont leave the table disatisfied,if you eat a full stomach, you burp rather happillly, and that just shows your satisfaction and appriciation of the food and everything, but a fart just leave a rather unpleasant sound/odor thats not pleasing at all.the cause of fart is not contentment, its just acid reflux:P.so "NO" i dont think its either a compliment or equal to being a good sign.its just rude.

no, a fart wouldn't be a bigger compliment. because some foreign people belch after they eat, they know that farting is as repulsive to us as it is them!

Farting and belching is the same thing. When you can't fart, it comes out your mouth.

I would have to say so.

If my husband burps after dinner, he says lovingly - "that's for you!".
I try to top it with a good fart so I can say "well, THAT'S for YOU!!".
