I am 16, and I was wondering is-there any way that I can get checked for STD's without my parents knowing?
Thanks!

look up Planned Parenthood on line for one nearest your city...You should be able to go there without parent knowing anything about it.

Quick answer: yeah, look up the nearest Planned Parenthood, make an appointment, and pay cash.

Longer answer: although you are a minor, your general practitioner / family practice physician should work with you and maintain confidentiality; however, in some states maintaining that confidentiality (due to your minor status) is not required. Additionally, billing to an insurance company could leave a trail for your parents to uncover. That said, if you have a good relationship with your regular physician this is an entirely permissible route to take (just pay cash).

As long as you don't live in a small town where everyone knows everyone! The gossiping is rediculous! Even at a healthcare place! Give a friends phone number where you can be contacted! Do you have a friend who's mother is easy to talk to? You may need to be contacted by the facility to make sure everything is taken care of! But you do not have to have your parents consent to go to a free clinic! Look in the yellow pages! And good luck!

It depends on the state law. In many states, you are no longer considered a minor so you have a legal right to your privacy. This means that if a doctor was going to call in laboratory results to your house, he couldn't tell your parents even if they begged. I would go to the planned parent hood website and look at the information they have there. They have a wealth of stuff concerning legal ages of treatment, laws about what can be told to parents, and 800 numbers to call for more info on free clinics etc.

Okay as a parent myself I am going to tell you, TELL YOUR PARENTS!!!! If you have it, you will need treated. Now, in this day and age condoms should always be used and they are too easy to get to not use them. Personally I think you are too young for sex anyway. My advice to you is when you are out on a date hold a nickel between your knees. STD's can give you problems all of your life including sterility. If you have sex always be safe. Carry condoms yourself if you have to have sex.

Most testing clinics are confidential and will not inform parents etc; however if you are positive they WILL ask for sex partners for checking also.
