Absolutely you can and NO you do not have to deliver them c-section. I would say about 5-10% of my patients state they have a history of genital herpes on their prenatals (and those are just the ones who admit it) and many of them delivery vaginally. It depends greatly on how long you've had it and how frequent your outbreaks are and how good you are at recognizing them and dealing with them. Our OBs usually puts our patients on Valtrex prophylactically before delivery. I believe in the last two years I've only had one patient who had an outbreak during delivery and in that case, yes, she was delivered by c-section.
However, this treatment plan needs to be discussed with you OB as many of them will have different opinions on a safe course of action. Just wanted to let you know that herpes isn't as horrible as it seems at first, most people adjust to it and live their lives just fine without any significant difference, especially if you are already married. And the first outbreak is always the worst, it won't always be like it is now.
Read your question again and realized you are pregnant now. Since you are having your first outbreak now and are already five months pregnant, the doctor may feel more comfortable giving you a c-section since the infection is so recent.

Yes. C-section
Pregnant women who have had genital herpes or any type of genital sores or blisters in the past should always tell their obstetricians before delivery. In some cases, other delivery options - like a cesarean section - can prevent HSV2 from being passed to the newborn.
If the mother is having her first outbreak while she is pregnant, she is more likely to pass the virus to her baby. If the outbreak is not the first one, the baby's risk of getting the virus is very low. Babies born with herpes may be premature or may die, or they may have brain damage, severe rashes, or eye problems. Doctors may do a C-section to deliver a baby if the mother has herpes lesions near the birth canal to help prevent passing the virus. Also, acyclovir can help babies born with herpes if they are treated right away.
It is not yet known if all genital herpes drugs are safe for pregnant women to take. Some doctors may recommend acyclovir be taken either as a pill or through an IV (a needle into a vein) during pregnancy. Let your doctor know if you have genital herpes, even if you are not having an outbreak. He or she will help you manage it safely during pregnancy.

Certain, there is no. Herpes is precipitated through a deadly disease. Without doubt, there could also be little therapy for viruses at the present time. The one factor which you would traditionally do inside the case of a viral contamination is fortify the immune system and hope it fights it off. Not with Herpes, the immune approach can not win in opposition to it. For that reason you nice get to deal with the indicators. As soon as you are contaminated, it stays with you for life. So don't get infected. Individual talents. I have had genital herpes for over 5 years. The #1 Herpes treatment application?

I got clinically diagnosed with genital herpes (type 2) about 3 years back, when I was still in college and had a dumb one-night stand. I realize a lot of young women say this, but I swear I had never done that sort of thing before. I just made a mistake that one time and all of a sudden it seemed like I was going to have to live with the consequences for the rest of my life. The hardest part was feeling I could never date guys again. In the end, who wants to go out with someone that has sores around her "you know what" area? But since a friend shared this video https://tr.im/LvBXm everything changed.
Not only was I able to eradicate all remnants of the herpes simplex virus from my body in less than 3 weeks, but I was also able to begin dating again. I even met the man of my dreams and I'm so blessed to write that just last week, in front of everybody in a busy restaurant, he got down on one knee and proposed to me!! This method provided the opportunity to be happy and experience true love again. Now I hope that I can help others by sharing this story.

The big issue with genital herpes and pregnancy is when the woman is having her first outbreak while giving birth. This is the most severe outbreak and can easily be passed to the baby as it is coming through the birth canal.
When the woman is NOT having an outbreak it is perfectly fine for her to have a vaginal birth.
If the woman is having an outbreak when she goes into labor the doctor will probably suggest the baby be delivered via C-section.
You should definitely talk more about this with your doctor. Good luck!

I am pretty sure that you can have more children. I don't think Genital Herpes, messes up your chance to have more children. You just have to let your doctor know if you become pregnant, so that when it comes time to deliver the baby, they can take the needed precautions. That way if you delivered the baby vaginally, the herpes wouldn't affect the baby, b/c it could blind the baby.
So you should be fine to have lots and lots of babies.

You can have children but as the previous answers stated you need to have a C-section. There are awful side effects for babies who are born vaginally from an infected mother. I have a friend who has had to deal with such. Be careful and talk openly with your doc about this.
Second, you do realize how you get Herpes simplex I & II, right? It is spread by contact eithier orally or sexually. Be safe.
Sorry to hear that you are having to deal with this news at such a time in your life. I hope you, baby and dad all do well.

I am absolutely terrified and I feel so alone. I just found out last week that I tested positive for hsv1 and 2. I have been with the same man for the past 10 years and within the last year found out that he has cheated on me with numerous women. I am so scared that I can give it to my children by kissing them and them eating with me...I feel like my whole life has changed. And even though the nurses, my doctor, and websites say that a lot of people have it I still feel like I am by myself. My self esteem has dropped and I feel like I have been used up. But now, My life is very happy.
