Omg, I just ranted about this subject in another section of V&V. Here's what I wrote:
********************************************************************
"Some people are totally confused. "I'm a semi-vegetarian" or "I'm a vegetarian but still eat fish" or "I'm veg but still eat chicken".... people who fall into these categories are NOT, I REPEAT, NOT VEGETARIANS. Anyone who eats ANY kind of flesh, from ANY kind of animal, is not a vegetarian. Those who eat flesh only from fish are called pescatarians. Those who are "part time" vegetarians are NOT vegetarians AT ALL. They just don't eat meat every day, that's all.
Let's get it right, people. "Semi-vegetarian" and "fish-eating vegetarian" and "chicken-eating vegetarian" sounds reallyyyyyyyy stupid. Fish is meat. Chicken is meat. Anything from the flesh of an animal, whether they lived on land, in the air, or in the sea, is MEAT. 8^B 8^B 8^B 8^B
Again, and I think people need reinforcement... anyone who eats no meat except for that of fish, is NOT A VEGETARIAN. They are PESCATARIAN. PESCATARIAN. PESCATARIAN. There is NO SUCH THING as a flesh-eating vegetarian. That defeats the whole purpose, a-duhhhh!!!. It's either/or, pure and simple.
Look it up in your Funk & Wagnalls!:"
*************************************************************
No, it's not possible to be half-veg. It seems people want the admiration of being called a vegetarian, without having to actually be one. Half a s s is half a s s, and there is no vegetarian category that is half a s s. (Personally, I consider the lacto and lacto-ovo varieties to be half a s s, but that's just me. Technically, they are still vegetarian 'cause they eat no FLESH.)
If you eat limited amounts of meat, you're not a vegetarian, you just eat little meat. If you eat meat only from seafood, then you're a pescatarian. If you eat ANY kind of meat at ANY time in ANY amount, and this meat comes from ANY animal in the ANIMAL KINGDOM, then you are NOT a vegetarian.
It's either/or. Either shite or get off the pot. The "pot" is the label, calling youself a vegetarian, any kind of vegetarian. Eat whatever you want, but if you eat flesh, don't say you're veg, that's all.

WEll, people do go flexitarian (eating meat rarely) or Pescatarian (eating only fish), or even Polletarian (which, though spelled wrong, means eating only poultry) but I don't think that KFC is in a position to say anything about vegetarianism. Have you seen www.kfccruelty.com? Whether the claims made there are true or not, I'd assume that any statements that they make about vegetarianism are completely bogus. But really, any amount of giving up meat helps!

Absolutely! You go right ahead. Just don't TELL people you are vegetarian. Because you are not.
There really is NO reason to require a label for how you eat. No one really needs to know the intricate details of how or why you do or don't eat this or that.
As some folks here have said, they go for long periods without eating meat. That's very cool. Every little bit counts.
However for us veggies, it sends very confusing signals to others when you folks who aren't vegetarian to tell people you are.
So do what you can. I'll be the first to pat you on the back for your efforts. Just don't call yourself a vegetarian.

You know, I really have to thank you for, pardon me for the use of an expression, "hitting home" with this morsel of genius. Why, just this morning I had thought about being "half-homosexual"... Perhaps I could "half-go to work"... I'm sorry Boss, I'm going to have to sit on the fence on this one. It seems I'm holding out for popular consensus to validate and/or exonorate me".... Why not just say "I think I'll be bi-sexual. I t seems that I sometimes crave cock, and then there's days I want to give the illusion of being straight. What WOULD my friends say if I turned out to be a full-blown gay?!"....... It only goes to show you that people who want to do things half-heartedly... or accomplish things in half-measures.....are indeed holding out to be publicly validated because they are incapable of it themselves. Why there's even a car market for these folks. Ever heard of hybrid cars?... I only want to pollute the environment a little bit.... how about you?

No. Either you are or you aren't. And you're not a vegetarian if you only eat fish.

It depends on what half you want to consider yourself a veggie. :)
A few years ago I came to think about stopping eating any mammals. It seemed almost cannibalistic to eat 'other' animals that share almost the same body structure/parts as we do. So I quit eating mammals entirely.
As for fish and foul, I eat them rarely when I don't have another choice.
Good luck with your choice, and remember this is your choice, so you need to justify it. Don't let anyone else do it for you.
