As others have said you've GOT to check the ingredient panel!! There are quite a few commercial ones that DO have gelatin (as a stabilizer for longer shelf life).

You should beware of automatically assuming that restaurant guacamole is veggie safe since quite a few will add LARD to it and one major national restaurant chain does use gelatin!

Taco Bell uses Xanthan to stabilize theirs so it's veggie safe.

Not usually, I don't think. The recipe that I have contains avocados, tomatoes, onions, lemon juice, jalapenos, salt, and pepper. I've never heard of using gelatin in guacamole, and it's one of my favorite foods! You can most definetly always ask at the place that you're eating, or just make it yourself!

Some processed kinds found in the supermarket do, but fresh guacamole usually does not contain it.

Shouldn't. It's Avocado, onion, tomatoes, peppers & spices. Lemon juice
If you are buying it pre-made look at the label. It amazes me what commerciall food producers put into foods sometimes.

Maybe if you buy it at walmart or another big box store. It should be all natural with only citric acid as a preservative.
