Cover their table with butcher paper & give them crayons. It will keep them seated (& hopefully quiet).
We keep a roll of butcher paper at home & when we need to kids to calm down, lay a huge piece on the kitchen floor & let them have at it. It works for about an hour.
Older kids should be able to behave themselves.
Don't request that kids stay home; if they are family members, this will be offensive.

Set up a "Scrap booking Table" using a card table draped in plastic get some scrap booking pages at a dollar store with stickers and pens, crayons, glue stick shapes etc. Have each child make a page for Gramma's Book. The children will be busy and gramma will have a great present at the end of the evening.

I would find an activity for the children to do in another room. Maybe get a movie, or a game they all can play. I'd make sure the room is close to where you all will be, so the children don't feel isolated. I'm sure they will keep each other company. Good luck.

Kids will gather together at the party, put them safe in a room or backyard and allow them to hang around with the adults, for them to see how they behave.
Kids anyway get bored fast. Make them fell free

Why is it that people don't hire sitters anymore?
Why do the feel the need to drag their children to very adult function they attend?
If this is an adult dinner party, make it no kids allowed. If they insist they bring their children, insist they don't attend at all.

If you can put them in a seperate room, hire a babysitter to keep them entertained and not under your feet. Supply movies, games, paper, crayons, etc. you could get a piece of posterborad and have them all decorate it to make a big card for grandma. order pizza and have ingredients onhand for a make your own sundae buffet.
