Hi, I used to go out with an Indian guy and spent many happy times around his families dining room table. The food his mother cooked was wonderful. I have never been able to replicate it and Indian restaurants do not give home cooked food. Please could I have recipies made in normal Indian family homes.
Thank you very much.

Of course I have searched Google, many times. Most recipies are not from authentic Indian homes, I have tried them. I really wanted genuine Indian Mums to help me.

Indian mothers rule! They are the best cooks, freshly prepared with lots of love!
I am not sure what part of India he was from, otherwise I could give you a better ides of the food. It differs greatly depending on what state. But I have a wonderful website for you:

India is a sub continent, and the cuisines many and varied.
Depending on your friend's mother ethnicity, there are too many recipes to list - and you may be remembering something entirely different.
Also, a lot of Indian home cooking is not standardized, spice mixtures are often made at home once or twice a year, and I would suggest you go through a list of Indian cooking websites - until you find one you like.
www.ndtvcooks.com is the equivalent of FoodTV
www.bawarchi.com is a good website for North Indian recipes
www.tarladalal.com is more Central India
www.pachakam.com specializes in South India cuisine

Keema (Indian-Style Ground Meat)
Serve over rice or noodles for a quick, flavorful meal. This recipe may be modified by adding peas (mattar), potatoes, or any other vegetable you like. It can also be used as a samosa or pastry filling."
INGREDIENTS
1 1/2 pounds ground lamb
1 onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons garam masala
1 teaspoon salt
4 teaspoons tomato paste
3/4 cup beef broth
DIRECTIONS
In a large heavy skillet over medium heat, cook ground lamb until evenly brown. While cooking, break apart with a wooden spoon until crumbled. Transfer cooked lamb to a bowl, and drain off all but 1 tablespoon fat. Saute onion until soft and translucent, about 5 minutes. Stir in garlic, and saute 1 minute. Stir in garam masala and salt, and cook 1 minute. Return the browned lamb to the pan, and stir in tomato paste and beef broth. Reduce heat, and simmer for 10 to 15 minutes or until meat is fully cooked through, and liquid has evaporated.
