I started taking Chromium supplements about 2 months ago.
The form is 'chromium Picolinate' 200 micro grammes per tablet.
I started with 1 tablet per meal and am now up to 3 tablets per meal.
The results are not conclusive.
Is is safe to up the doseage to 4 per meal to see if there is a beneficial result on the lowering of Blood Sugar levels ?

Has anyone had any experience with Chromium supplements, that might help Diabetics control their Blood Sugar levels ?

Thank you for any suggestions
Naresh

I am so grateful to everyone.

Your suggestions have helped me and hopefully anyone else with a similar condition.

I must stress that I did take advice from my doctor and since I was on the doorstep of Injected Insulin, he suggested that I try it.
With no information about safe tolerance levels I had to experiment and see how my body reacted with pre and post meal Glucose testing.

The doseage on the side of the chromium picolinate bottle did not have any effect over a period of time and is designed to protect the manufacturers from any lawsuits.

Yahoo answers has allowed me to receive your gifts of knowledge and experience. Thank you.

I hope the answers help others, as everyone's metabolic rate, lifestyle and stress levels are different.

Once again, please discuss any changes to your dietary supplementation with your health advisor.

I look forward to all suggestions.

Kind Regards
Naresh

Chromium is but a small part of a complete diet, exercise, and supplement treatment for diabetes. Read my diabetes info page for more:

It's very worrying that you are self-medicating if you have diabetes. I trust you are seeing a qualified doctor for your condition and are being treated for it.
As for chromium, animal studies show that chromium deficiency is associated with the development of diabetes. But routine use of chromium supplementation in diabetic patients who have overall adequate nutrition has not consistently shown benefit. In other words, if your diet already has adequate traces of chromium, you are unlikely to benefit from taking more. In fact too much is harmful and chromium poisoning is a well known problem and its compounds are classified as carcinogens. Do stick to the dosage on the bottle and don't exceed it.
Better still, keep the money you use to buy it and get a pair of good trainers and start a regime of exercise. Research has shown that an active lifestyle does more to bring down the blood sugar levels than alternative cures.

I'm taking 400 mcg/day.

I realize that conventional health care is necessary and appropriate. That having been said, there are also many things WE can do to overcome type II diabetes, and improve life as a Type I diabetic. I've been researching alternative medicine, and the amount of help that's available to diabetics is amazing.

Natural remedies are quite effective, and include:

Cinnamon
Bitter Melon
Gymnema Sylvestre
Nopal cactus
American Ginseng
Fenugreek
Chromium picolinate

Cinnamon regulates glucose, and has a polyphenol compound called MHCP that mimics insulin and activates cell receptor sites. A quarter teaspoon twice daily makes a difference. Fenugreek increases blood flow and inhibits the growth of infectious organisms. Everything on the list has a use in fighting diabetes. Learn how to use these herbs and don't fall victim to diabetes needlessly. You can find out about about them on line, or in a book I read cover to cover--

"One Son's Quest for the Cause and Cure of Diabetes", ISBN 7890766313

The author, a doctor, lost his mother to diabetes and spent the next 20 years finding a way to overcome it. My brother was dying of diabetes, and I was just starting to need insulin when we came across this definitive work which came out in February 2005. We both lead mostly normal lives now. It's a life saver, and the best money you'll ever spend on the subject if you decide to go that way.
You might want to check Abe Books, Alibri's, or Amazon.com for a good used copy cheap. I bought mine new, and I think it was about $35. I don't get any money from anybody for telling you this--just want to help, and the techniques in this book is what made the difference for me and mine. Best of luck.

Better check with your doctor about this. What you are thinking may sound true as insulin is partly made up of chromium. The dosage you are taking may become toxic, so you need to be careful. I stopped taking this when I heard that it may cause more harm than good. You would be better off to get this mineral from eating food that contains this trace mineral. Four per meal is quite a lot and it will build up in your system causing kidney problems. Before you go any further research this on the web and again consult your doctor.

I'm a 45 year old woman and was recently diagnosed as being a borderline diabetic. My doctor prescribed some medication, but before filling it I decided to do some research on the internet which led me to the methods. After reading this ebook and applying the methods, my scepticism turned to 100% belief. I noticed that my energy levels increased significantly and I felt more rested in the morning, my symptoms started going away.

I am very happy to tell you that I have been feeling better than I have felt in years and my doctor informed me that he will be taking me off my prescriptions if I keep this up.

I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

Many common natural remedies are claimed to have blood sugar lowering properties that make them useful for people with or at high risk of diabetes. Learn here https://tr.im/VSmAq

A number of clinical studies have been carried out in recent years that show potential links between herbal therapies and improved blood glucose control, which has led to an increase in people with diabetes using these more 'natural' ingredients to help manage their condition.

Hi Naresh,
There are a number of supplements you should look at to lower blood sugar levels. I am taking a combination that comes with Glucoach. After 5 months my BSL has drop to normal.

Best wishes
