P.S. Did you know that because evil exists, I should not attempt to avoid or curtail any decidedly evil, perhaps even torturous actions?
Hehe, not really; It's called "satire."

I am a vegetarian. My dogs are not. I do believe that people have the right to make their dogs Vegetarian if they please. It's not unhealthy and if people did their research they would know. Don't be ignorant. Also, a vegan/vegetarian diet is way more beneficial than a meat eating diet. If people did their research on this subject they would know that too. The term Vegetarian means you DO NOT eat eggs or anything from an animal. There are sub-genres of vegetarianism for that. I hate when people say "I'm a vegetarian but not strict", no, you are not a vegetarian. You're something else. Yes, if you're a vegan or veggie for Animal Rights reason, wearing fur or wool or leather or whatever it is, is hypocritical. Nope, not a Peta member. I'm just into living a clean, healthy lifestyle with no bad karma. I think I'm doing a swell job! Oh, it's also proven that vegetarians and vegans are highly intelligent. More so than others. Look it up. It's true!

So far, as best we can determine biologically and physiologically, plants do not feel pain. They are alive and have some sort of response to light, water, etc., but they don’t feel pain.
Pain requires a brain, a central nervous system, pain receptors, and so on. All mammals, birds, and fish have these things. No plants do. We all know this to be true: We all understand that there is a fundamental difference between cutting your lawn and lighting a cat’s tail on fire and between breaking up a head of lettuce and bashing a dog’s head in.
Birds, mammals, and fish are made of flesh, bones, and fat, just as we are. They feel pain, just as we do. I may not know quite where to draw the line. For example, I’m not sure what a roach or an ant experiences. But I do know with 100 percent certainty that intentionally inflicting suffering because of tradition, custom, convenience, or a palate preference is unethical. And if we’re eating meat, dairy products, or eggs, we’re intentionally causing suffering, for no good reason.
If you are serious about your concern with suffering, I invite you to visit the following site to learn more about how animals on factory farms are treated:

People care about plants. I love plants.
To the person who asked about compassionately raised animals for food, that is an animal not imprisoned and tortured on a factory farm. An animal that has been allowed green grass to play in, fresh air to breath, proper food. A family farm rather than a factory farm.
Click the link to Cornucopia and see the two photos on the front page. Cows in grass, vs cows crammed shoulder to shoulder in a stinking, mouldering barn. Cows who run around so their muscles grow as they were intended, vs cows tethered to poles, again, shoulder to shoulder, so they must be pumped full of steroids in order for their muscles to grow.

Plants have no central nervous system, no nerves at all, not even one cell of nerves. Show your proof.
As vegan&proud said, the meat industry wastes far more vegetation than we ever could. Livestock eat TONS of vegetation. And the outcome? Only 1/16 in weight of meat vs. weight of vegetation is yielded. THIS is waste, veganism is not.

all living things do not have to suffer for our need to survive.
i would never eat my mother if i ran out of food.
we need to eat plants to live, but we dont have to eat animals.
there are a whole bunch of meals that do not involve dead creatures in them. plus, we live longer if we dont eat the dead.
so if your talking about survival, not eating animals increases the chances of surviving longer.
and there is no such thing as a compassionately raised animal if that animals only purpose in living was to be slaughtered.

You kill more plants by eating meat because the animal eats plants, and then you eat the animal plus more plants. You have got to be joking me.
