Sorry, dead animals are dead animals, and vegetarians do not put the flesh of the dead into their bodies.
Kudos on all your hard work though, and kudos for actually checking up on your information.
There is no humane way to kill. Under the best conditions, fish slowly suffocate to death. I can't imagine anyone wanting to do that.
Good luck on your journey into vegetarianism (if you so choose to make the big leap.) Don't worry; fish aren't that tastey anyway. There are far better vegetarian options.

how many people ask this!!!
VEGETARIANS DON'T eat any animal or living thing , fish were once alive so you can't be a vegetarian if you eat fish. Fish still get killed and it doesn't matter where they're killed there still slaughtered for food which are consumed by people. I don't know where people get the idea from that it's ok to eat fish and still call themselves vegetarian!.

I still don't get this whole "fish isn't meat" thing. So an animal isn't an animal if it lives underwater?
You're not a vegetarian. Eat fish if that's what kind of person you are, but don't call yourself a vegetarian. It's people like you that make the general populace so confused about what vegetarians eat.

vegans are the most restricted. they do not eat anything that came from an animal at all, including meat, honey, milk, eggs, etc.
vegetarians do not eat any animals at all. no meat, no fish, seafood, no chicken, nothing. but they do eat the things that came from them, like honey, milk, eggs, etc.
pescatarians (long name, I know) choose not to eat meat, but eat seafood including fish and shrimp. see Definition: Occasionally used to describe those who abstain from eating all meat and animal flesh with the exception of fish. Although the word is not commonly used and a pescatarian is not technically a vegetarian, more and more people are adopting this kind of diet, usually for health reasons or as a stepping stone to a fully vegetarian diet. Pescetarians often believe that moderate consumption of fish or fish oils, which are high in Omega-3 fatty acids, is necessary for optimum health, although vegetarian alternatives, such as flax seed oil, are available.
beyond health reasons, a lot of people believe that fish cannot feel pain and therefore are more acceptable to kill. but recently studies have shown that they do indeed feel pain, so do what you will with that info.
I pasted a website below with info on big fishing farms.

There are different kinds of vegetarians. My 9th grade science teacher ate fish, shellfish, and wild game because they weren't killed in slaughterhouses (and therefore, better for the environment). Lacto-ovo vegetarians (I believe they're the most common type) eat dairy and eggs, but no flesh food. There is a kind of vegetarian who eats dairy, eggs, and fish, but no beef, chicken, pork, et cetera; I don't remember exactly what it was, though.
It all depends on what you believe, really. Some people believe that using animals at all is wrong (That's your vegan.), some people believe that killing is wrong but using animal products is not wrong (Your lacto-ovo vegetarian; my personal choice for now.), and some people pick and choose random stuff that they want to eat. (My current science teacher eats no red meat, but she'll eat everything else.) Go with what you feel is right. If you're a vegetarian for health reasons, I hear fish is good for you. If you're a vegetarian for moral reasons but you believe there's nothing wrong with eating fish, go with that. It's your choice.
