How to become one when tempted to eat meat?

become one slowly. stop eating meat as much, and cut out all fatty meats like bacon, ham, salami and pepperoni. once u become one, theres plenty of imitation meats that you can eat. of course they wont taste EXACTLY like meat but if ur serious about being a vegetarian then you'll deal with it. hope this helps! im a vegan and i went vegan RIGHT AWAY. no gradually doing anything. just woke up and said 'im going vegan. period.' and its been that way for 5 months now. =]

I just recently became a vegetarian 6 months ago. It was something I did on a whim, and eating meat was natural to me so I didn't really think about not eating it and before I truly started, I accidentally ate some. Meat substitutes are nice, and they probably would help you. I know that if you like chicken nuggets, quorn makes really good chik'n nuggets. I suppose you could always taper your meat intake. I kind of just decided not to eat meat and haven't really been tempted at all. Even around it. Eventually the smell kind of turns me off so, everything is good here. I hope that you can do it!

I would advise doing exactly the opposite of what Victoria said. Decide your going to quit eating it and do so. if you slip up, so be it. continue from that point on. Don't be hard on yourself, but I don't suggest going off meat gradually I feel it's much easier to just stop eating it all together. Finish what's in your fridge (or give it away) and go for it!

this will pass.

just graduate from college, and you'll be able to afford steak.
Hang in there!

Actually, the answer is to define and decide for yourself why you are committing to a vegetarian diet. Whether it's for health reasons, or religious or philosphical reasons, or just a change of pace, you need to decide what are the reasons that are MORE important than the temptation of steak.

Me? I'd eat beef straight off the cow, if the farmer would stop shooting at me.
