Sinuses get congested because of the buildup of mucous inside. The mucous being trapped will encourage bacterial growth, and thus later on, will elicit the syptoms you get with sinus congestion.
The other question that needs to be asked is, why does the mucous get trapped inside the sinus. The sinus outlet itself, is like a small tunnel. This tunnel could be easily blocked, when its mucosa (inside layer) is inflammed. Mucosal inflammation is elicited for many reasons, mainly allergic, and ofcourse others being viral (like the common cold, or flu)

A virus, or allergies from something. If you take some 'Echinacea' this will help. They start working in about 5 min. You can get them at the local health food store. There not addictive so you can take a couple at a time, but start with one.

When pressure or mucus gets blocked in your nasal cavity (sinuses) and can give you severe headaches or stuffy nose. Hope this helps.
