I've been working in gourmet popcorn factory for 3 years as a operational manager, also an owner. I've been tasting and consuming a lot of chocolate, caramel, and sugar that are essential ingredients for producing gourmet popcorn.

I checked my blood sugar level and it is enormouly high and am experienced many of diebetes symptoms recently. Am I eligible to get worker's compensation for this case? and How?

Thanks,

The first responder should check his info before making CAPITALIZED statements like "consuming sugar does NOT cause type 2 diabetes." I'm always shocked at the ignorance and misinformation that folks spout in here. There is no doubt about it... none... a diet high in refined carbohydrates i.e. sugar, flour, pasta, breads etc., is the cause of Type 2 DM. There is a genetic component that may predispose one to developing it as well. Just to interject that correction.

You want collect unemployment for a lifestyle induced disease? Should a bartender have his rehab paid by his employer? Should a pharmacist get paid for her time off while detoxing from her methadone overdose? I think you're a little off track here with this one bud.

Hi, Pius L. Sorry to hear about your health problem. You've really gotten slammed here, but not all of us are grumpy, old ax grinders.

First, let's take a look at symptoms again-

DIABETES SYMPTOMS
Frequent urination
Excessive thirst
Extreme hunger
Unusual weight loss
Increased fatigue
Irritability
Blurry vision

Now if the shoe still fits, there are many things WE can do to overcome type II diabetes, and improve life as a Type I diabetic. I've been researching alternative medicine, and the amount of help that's available to diabetics is amazing.

Natural remedies are quite effective, and include:

Cinnamon
Bitter Melon
Gymnema Sylvestre
Nopal cactus
American Ginseng
Fenugreek
Chromium picolinate

Cinnamon regulates glucose, and has a polyphenol compound called MHCP that mimics insulin and activates cell receptor sites. A quarter teaspoon twice daily makes a difference. Fenugreek increases blood flow and inhibits the growth of infectious organisms. Everything on the list has a use in fighting diabetes. Learn how to use these herbs and don't fall victim to diabetes needlessly. You can find out about about them on line, or in a book I read cover to cover--

"One Son's Quest for the Cause and Cure of Diabetes", ISBN 7890766313

The author, a doctor, lost his mother to diabetes and spent the next 20 years finding a way to overcome it. My brother was dying of diabetes, and I was just starting to need insulin when we came across this definitive work which came out in February 2005. We both lead mostly normal lives now. It's a life saver, and the best money you'll ever spend on the subject if you decide to go that way.
You might want to check Abe Books, Alibri's, or Amazon.com for a good used copy cheap. I bought mine new, and I think it was about $35. I don't get any money from anybody for telling you this--just want to help, and the techniques in this book is what made the difference for me and mine. Best of luck.

Forget anything you have ever been told about Diabetes.

And get this - it has nothing to do with insulin, exercise, diet or anything else you've heard in the past. It's all based on latest breakthrough research that Big Pharma is going Stir Crazy to hide from you.

No. The consumption of sugar does NOT cause diabetes. If you are a Type I diabetic, it is most likely linked to an immune system infection. If you are a Type II, then it is more than likely linked to lifestype choices. While eating the sugar isn't good for you, you becoming a diabetic is not a result of your work.

Depends on the laws of your state. Depends on the injury, and what costs were incurred. BNasically, worker's comp covbers medical bills and lost wages to some degree.
