Bone scans show increased metabolic activity in bone so anything that causes that can show up on the scan. This would include fractures and infections in addition to tumors.

i wasnt aware that fractures could show up on a bone scan..but i know 100% that infections malignant and benign lesions all show up as how spots.. also the active growth plates (ends of bones) appear as hot spots. mri scan will be alot more conclusive. may i ask what the dr's are testing for?
