My daughter tells me her lungs feel like they're on fire when she tries to run. Her legs do fine, her heart doesn't hurt, but her lungs really flare up. Could she have asthma? Or is this something else?

That happens to me when it's really cold outside and I run or ride my bike. I don't have asthma or any health problems. I've always assumed it was the dry, cold air irritating my membranes or something. In college, I took a winter semester track class and the burning feeling did eventually get better.

I'm no doctor, but when I started running seriously my lungs felt the same way until I became more conditioned. A call to your physician might be a good idea.
