Without knowing where the hole is or how big it is, there's no way to tell if it is dangerous. However, if you have what is called a ventricular septal defect (VSD), its been there your whole life, so its probably not serious if you haven't had any problems thus far. VSD is a condition where the the right ventricle doesn't completely seal itself off from the left ventricle during fetal development. The doctor will let you know if there is anything to be concerned about after determining how much blood is leaking between the ventricles and if there are any other coronary issues that might raise a red flag. All in all, if you are healthy now, then the hole is not likely to cause problems, but its possible that the doctor may recommend surgery to close the hole.
