My doctor said that i need to see the gastroenterologist immediately. I have had stool softeners,gas x,metamucil,and this problem was here last year. It is pressing against my uterus> Do this requires surgery.

No that wouldn't need surgery,unless it was kinked up (volvulus) and was blocking the colon ,and setting up an infection etc.By now you would be having symptoms like abdominal. cramping,diarrhea,fever etc.It would be a good idea to see the Gastroenterologist again,to make sure its nothing more serious. There's no way to know whether surgery is needed until you know what the problem is. A gastroenterologist would be the best person to find that out.

It depends but like your doctor said, you need to see a specialist and let him/her make that decision.
