Ok this is very bizarre...if you have heart palpitations going on two days now and yet have had an EKG done and bloodwork and all is normal what more can it be? Thyroid hasn't been ruled out but if not that then what else?

And how does the thyroid enter the picture in all this too?

Thanks for any info.

An EKG shows only what's happening at the time of the EKG. If you are having palpitations at different times, you need a longer way to moniter, like a Halter Moniter-it watches your rhythm over a 24 hour period. A high thyroid level or a low one can cause palpitations of different rates. Have you checked webMD? They have alot of good into

I'm not sure. I was checked for Thyroid problems with my condition, but they didn't do it because I had heart palpitations. However, I seem to remember that being one of the symptoms. Remember, there's two kinds of thyroid disorders.

You might have mitral valve prolapse, a frequent cause of palpitations. The only way for a definite diagnosis is with an echocardiogram - an ultrasound of the heart.

ive been getting them for years now, up to 10-15 per minute at times and theyve never been able to find a cause. and im not dead yet :) generally theyre harmless unless you have something serious going on and youre told otherwise so try not to worry about them too much. they can rule anything serious out with an echocardiogram. you might have them for life, id never gotten them before then just suddenly started getting them and they kinda come and go in cycles, ill go a week or two where im getting several per minute and then a couple weeks of only getting a couple per day.

heart palpations can be caused by to much caffine, stress, electrolye inbalance, or even some cardiac diseases, in response to your thyroid question ifyou have a hyper thyroid it causes increased heart rate due to the increased release of calcium released.
