If this was the first time you spit up blood with coughing and it was only a little, it is probably that you ruptured tiny blood vessels with the force of your coughing and it is nothing to worry about. However, if it has happened before, or is a frequent occurence, you should definitely see a doctor for a diagnosis. There are many problems that can cause blood with coughing, so you should have it checked out, or at least tell your doctor if it happens again or is not the first time it happened. Good luck.

In the old days, coughing blood was associated w/tuberculosis. It could also be throat irritation or ulcer I suppose. I'm no Dr. but I'd think the first thing to do would be to see a physician!

If this is the first time bleeding while coughing, you probably just burst a blood vessel and you dont have to worry too much. However, keep checking and make sure you arent bleeding again. You may have radiation poisoning.

There are many reasons you could have spit up blood, few of them to be ignored. Get a physical. You could have ulcers or problems in your esophagus.
