The body begins to shut down, consciousness is lowered, the kidneys and liver start getting damaged as do the nerves and eyes. If the glucose levels are not brought down medically the brain will be damaged and death can result.

Last year, I began having episodes where I was dozing off and occasionally staying asleep for awhile. At one job I did that and was let go (even though they knew I was diabetic).

Not long after that episode, my blood sugar spiked to 475 and I ended up in the hospital for five days back in December---three of those days in ICU. Things are better now, and I'm visiting the doctor as I should to get tests done, blood monitored, etc. As I've learned, you just have to watch what you're doing.

Bad things happen above 450. Try adding a little cinnamon to your diet. Cinnamon regulates glucose, and has a polyphenol compound called MHCP that mimics insulin and activates cell receptor sites. A quarter teaspoon twice daily makes a difference. Best of luck.
