Because the tribe leaders in some of the worst AIDS stricken communities in Africa will not negotiate with medical, humanitarian or AIDS organizations. They will not allow them treat any of the people there. Any attempt at covert aiding of the people is seen as a hostile threat and the "foreigners" are either chased away or executed or held hostage or...
"Anywhere else" other than Africa, would have welcoming parades and celebratory prayer services when an alternative to a horrific death was offered in their community/nation.

Okay, here ya go... AIDS is higher in Africa because many men believe having sex with a virgin -- any virgin -- will prevent them from getting AIDS. Naturally, this doesn't work... their ignorance merely spreads the virus. Thus many women/girls are raped, becoming infected in the process.

Perhaps sexual education will change their believes, but then again, maybe not, if the virgin-cure idea is deeply ingrained in their culture. As for the monkeys, they BIT someone who passed the virus to another man. These monkeys possess the virus as a natural part of their genetic make-up, and it is harmless to them.

Also -- originally AIDS was considered the gay man's curse, because the first cases occurred in the bath houses of San Fransisco... it was named G.R.I.D, and only recognized as a real problem in the late 1980's, when it started to show up in heterosexual [straight] men.

Hmmm....to answer that u must know ..the history of AIDS... the AIDS virus called as HIV was actually a disease of the monkeys which lived primarily in africa ... how this got transmitted to man nobody knows... but one theory is that some african tribes people have sex with monkeys .. or eat them ( as i would prefer than the former ) and they got exposed to the virus...

so one reason is that ... africa is where it started so it is high over there....

other reasons would be poor socio-economic conditions and less education about condoms ..

and iam not sure about this .. but whereever there are more homosexuals there is more AIDS so maybe that plays a role too

Aids is a bigger problem in Africa because 1) The disease originated there and 2) Africa does not have the medicanes and health care services needed to battle this disease.

There are a lot of cultural taboos surrounding the use of condoms. People don't use condoms and AIDS spreads. The poverty levels force men and women into prostitution and again, AIDS spreads. Finally, people who are infected believe that they'll be cured if they have sex with a virgin, and of course that infects the ex-virgin as well.

There are many reasons why Africa has more people with AIDS. Africa suffers poverty and political corruption which leads to no sexual or hygiene education from experts(little understanding of HIV), lack of readily available condoms, non-educated people (also leads to rape), ignorance, villages with no communitcation to others, lack of policemen for supervision, lack of hygiene etc.
It is also the origin of AIDS.

Lack of sexual education in that region, along with the high rate of rape in most areas. Most that are raped never say anything because of the culture. If you are raped your family is shamed as long as you, sometimes you are killed or even your family.
