Tamales: Mexican dish made of chopped meat and crushed peppers, highly seasoned, wrapped in cornhusks spread with masa, and steamed. The original pre-Hispanic tamales were made by placing some uncooked masa (tortilla dough) on a fresh or dried and rehydrated corn husk, adding a filling of meat, seafood, insects, vegetables or fruit, wrapping the husk into a package and steaming it. Following the introduction of lard by the Spanish, this fat was added to the dough which makes it much lighter, and more savory. Tamales are also made with fresh ground corn.

It looks like a Burrito wrapped in a Cornhusk. Made from the same stuff as Corn-Tortillas it's called "MASSA", Cornbased.
You spread the Cornpaste on Cornhusks and wrapped 'em up.
There are some special Steam-Pots to cook those delicious Things. you can make them with Pork, Chicken etc.etc.

They are packets of corn dough with a savory or sweet filling and typically wrapped in corn husks or banana leaves. The packets are steamed and eaten traditionally served with Atole (masa drink). They are usually served rather simple and plain.
