I have severe bronchitis or flu and started to take Walgreen's version of Robitussin however it says don't take if you are taking MAOI meds for depression, etc. I am afraid to take it, does anyone know. I need to sleep. Every time I lay down, the deep horrible cough starts

No - Abilify is not an MAOI

There isn't a universal best dose that works for everyone. Each person reacts differently to Abilify, so each person has to be looked at on a case by case basis. If, for example, you are having agitation problems with Abilify they will keep the dose low. Sometimes when you go too high on Abilify it can start to bring out visual hallucinations because it stimulates dopamine and they will have to back down on the dose. You need to work with your doctor to figure out what dose is right for you.

The common names of MAOI inhibitors include Marplan, Nardil, and Parnate. MAOI are commonly used as strong anti-depressants. Yes these medication have serious side effects if you mix with improper medications and tyramine rich foods such as avocados, nuts, beer. I don't think that particular medication is a MAOI.
