The answer is: The 6 year-old should not need that many doses a day. If he's sick with pneumonia that's one thing, but if this is his everyday regimen something is wrong.

Salbutamol (also known generically as Albuterol) is what we call a "rescue medication." It acts quickly and only for a short period of time. It's fine when someone is sick or for flare-ups of a condition, but for a young person it's not acceptable to need four doses a day all the time. For a sixty year-old who's smoked for forty years, maybe - but not a little kid.

You need to consult with a pulmonologist or, if the problem is asthma, a Certified Asthma Educator. A pulmonologist is a lung specialist, and they will work to find meds that prevent the child from having so many problems in the first place; meds that are less intense than albuterol/salbutamol and much easier to deal with.

Good luck!

Oh honey, you should realllllly ask the 6 years old pediatrician that prescribed it. If the child hasn't been prescribed it then don't give them any of it. I wouldn't trust the welfare of child to anyone on any website.
