My girlfriend that im thinking about spending the rest of my life with, tells me everything. She told me about her ex-boyfriend she had before me, and that he called her from jail and told her he had STD. Well she went to go get checked, and they said that it was just bacterial infection. Well she got a new docter and that docter said that it has Clymidia... She getting it treated with medication that'll take 7-10 days. I never had unprotected sex with her, but when its treated, is it fully gone? If I have unprotected sex, could I still catch it, even weeks after she got it medicated? How serious is Clymidia?

it is very unlikely however it can happen if any thing the disease is more serious in women than in men anyway however the bacteria must be treated with antibiotics then you must wait a while to see if it comes back even if it does the sysptoms may not show however the chance that the bacteria will come back isnt so great that you should worry to much the best thing to do is give it time and wait a month or two after the the bacteria has been treated

When it's treated it should be fully gone, but it is sensible for her to have a follow up test a month after treatment. It would be very unusual for you to catch it from her once her treatment is complete, but there have been rare occasions when the treatment fails.

I would get treatment for yourself as well, even if you've only had protected sex, just in case.

There is a very simple treatment around these days, which is just a single dose of a particular antibiotic. See your doctor about this.

She should get tested again for you safety and she must take the medicatio as direced to make sure the virus is gone. Treatment is recommended for:
People who have positive chlamydia tests.
Sex partners within the last 60 days of people diagnosed with chlamydia—even if they do not have symptoms.
Newborns of women who have chlamydia at the time of delivery.
It is important to not have sex for 7 days after treatment for chlamydia. If you are treated for chlamydia and your sex partner is not, you will probably become infected again. Encourage your partner to get treated. Use condoms to lower the chance of reinfection.

Good luck!

Once the infection is gone you can't catch it but I would wait about another 2 months before having unprotected sex. Just in case- have her take other STD tests including HIV.

The medication should have taken care of it. Are you sure you want to marry someone who was dating someone in jail? Were you with both doctors when one said she had a STD and one said she had just an infection? Maybe make sure you know yourself ..
