It sounds like your doctor has not educated you at all. Very bad. I would absolutely consider changing doctors. Right now what you need is education. Quickly. If you are borderline diabetic this is the exact right time to do something about it by taking control of your life. You might be able to prevent this ugly disease if you act quickly. You can't do that however if you've not been given a clue as to what you need to do. Consider contacting an endocronologist or a doctor that specializes in diabetic care. If one is not available to you, ask your insurance carrier to help you pick a doctor that is known to educate their patients.
First, call your local hospital and ask if they sponser diabetic classes. Your insurance should cover all but the co-pay of this. Get into the very next class. The information provided in these classes will go a long way to getting you on the right path. This class also includes a eating plan that is designed specifically for you by a dietician that specializes in Type 2 diabetes.
Next, do your research. Bookmark: www.diabetes.org This is the American Diabetes Association. Lots of great info and support here.
There is a lot you can do but you must decide how important it is to you. Trust me, avoiding the complications of this ugly disease is well worth any sacrifices you will have to make.

I am writing to tell you what an incredible impact these methods had on my life! I have had type 2 diabetes for 27 years. For me, the worst part of this horrible disease is the severe pain I constantly get in my feet. The pain is so bad that I avoid standing and walking as much as possible. I've got to tell you that within the first month, my feet stopped hurting altogether and I can now walk totally pain free.
Believe it or not, I even danced at my niece's wedding last month, something I have not done in a many years. I've been following the book for six months now and my blood sugar is well within normal range. I feel great!
I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

If you are overweight and PREDIABETIC then you probably have insulin resistance syndrome. In this condition your body has to produce escess insulin so your cells can process the sugar you palce into your body therfore your pancreas overworks itself and you eventually get diabetes. The best way to combat insulin resistance syndrome is diet and exercise. You probably qualify for nutrition counseling if you have medical insurance if you do not go to the american diabetes association website for information on a balanced diet, limiting high calorie sugars, and exercise. In truth a handful of chex mix and mountain dew are loaded with sugar which will spike your blood sugar up quickly. The best times to test blood sugar is in the am before breakfast or 2 - 3 hr after a meal. this way youy have had time to digest what you have just eaten and the reading is more accurate. However, if your blood sugar is spiking up that quickly you really need to start to consider changing your lifestyle.
Diabetes is a leadin cause for heart disease, it leads to clogged arteries, heart attack, nephropathy (which is a painful nerve condition often resulting in loss of use of extremities and or amputation), high rates of infection, and digestive problems.
In most cases if you lose weight and begin to exercise you can reverse insulin resistance syndrome before you get diabetes and therefore not suffer needlessly from this illness. Whatever your motivation, you should think about it everyday and make some real changes.

RE:
pre-diabetic, I just dont understand any of it or what to do about it?
Ok, so I went to the doctor she says I am borderline or pre-diabetic. I bought a blood tester (sorry not sure the actual name for it). Ive checked my blood sugar first thing in the morning it can range from 90-105, and before bed it runs around 89. However I just checked it, and it was 137 and I...

As others have mentioned - improve your menu and add some exercise to your day. As to how to improve your menu, read the information in the source url.
I had no idea what chex mix was - so I looked it up (second source). Nearly pure carbs added to the sugar in Mt Dew; it's no wonder your numbers went up.
The good news is that your numbers show you are at an early stage so some action now can delay, possibly indefinitely, progression to frank diabetes.

Well the good news is that you are pre meaning you don't technically have the diasease but the potential. This is the ideal time to get yourself in shape, change your diet and this will all be thing of the past. For one chex mix is not an ideal snack if you need something shoot for things that the body can really digest, such as grapes, raisens carrorts, cheese... It is a horrible illness to have my cousin has it and is bound to a wheel chair. Take this is your preventable warning. Not to mention those numbers really don't seem so out of range really

A listener of all health talk shows, we've learned not to use simple sugars such as white flour, white pasta, potatoes and certainly not junk foods. Pre-diabetic also, I take rice bran/spinach pastas, white turnips, baked snow peas(snack), carrot /sweet potato chips, therapeutic teas(HerbaSways, Nature's Answer). All found in Fairway SuperMarket or HealthNut Markets. I'm in NYC. If you go upstairs in Fairway, many things to choose from to change that SAD(standard american diet).
If you're not in NY, you may check for health food stores. I prefer tasty items and there are plenty that will help to keep the blood sugar stable.
I don't understand why drs can't be more accomodating. Is it only about the $$$$?
