That's not what they will tell you. The liars, er... I mean experts will tell you that if you are in the general vicinity of a smoker that you will DIE OF CANCER!!!!!
Don't believe them. They are all liars and have an agenda. You need to inhale tons and tons of second hand smoke for it to be dangerous and I'm talking 30 years.
You breath worse walking down the street from busses and cars.

No. If you are in a room where someone is smoking-even on the other side of the room-you are still getting the second hand smoke. Or, someone just came in from being outside smoking, and gives you a hug, the smell is the smoke on their clothes-second hand smoke.

As I was once told "unless your putting the thing up to your mouth and actually inhaling it yourself, it shouldn't show up on your test.....you can't come up positive for being at a concert where there was plenty of smoking going on as it just doesn't cut it in the "good answers" category" ..................really
So with that said, it depends on what type of smoke your speaking of I suppose................but whatever the case may be if your in an area where your breathing space is being infringed upon, its always customary to say to the smoker "excuse me but your smoke is really bothering me....would you please do me the favor of putting it out?"
Then its customary to say "sure buddy no problem" but that would be the answer you'd like to hear. I'm sure there are quite a few answers that could also be given in that situation although "tact" is an important issue when asking someone to do something that they probably won't want to do but that they would be easier to accept the suggestion of phrased properly and calmly.
................think about it..............I just did (too much ouch).

Are you breathing the smoke? I you are, then that IS second hand smoke. I always take a deep breath of clean air and hold it if I see a smoker on the street near me and try to avoid the cloud of smoke blowing in the wind.

if you are in an office with others and some of them smoke you will get a certian ammount of second hand smoke, thats why they passed laws against smoking in most work places, and public buildings as well as most resturants, Las vegas was one of the last holdouts but they got it passed here for resturants and bars that serve food. you couldnt smoke in stores or office buildings anyway, but some of the casinos can get a bit smokey, the larger more expensive ones have better ventilation though .

No, according to the American Lung Association:
"second hand smoke lingers in the air hours after cigarettes have been extinguished"

Er, sorry, I meant to put a thumbs down to lura and i put a thumbs up instead. Whatever harms you or not, if you can smell it, you're inhaling it, and no one has the right to make you do that. The fact that you are also inhaling stuff from buses and cars doesn't make it better, it actually makes it worse!
