I REALLY wanted you to know that you can EASILY never have to deal with another horrible, awful, nasty cold-sore for the rest of your life!!

I got them every winter my whole life until 3 years ago (I'm 36 now) and they were the BANE of my existence...the whole process took weeks to heal and would leave a scar for at least 2 months sometimes!

I was reading a message board on www.curezone.org and discovered the PERFECT remedy for both healing them and preventing them completely:
OLIVE LEAF EXTRACT

So, I buy the liquid tincture by "HerbPharm" and it has not failed me ONCE...Whenever I'm feeling drained, tired, stressed, or get that tingly feeling on my lip, I just load up on this stuff.

This is the one I buy:

http://www.nextag.com/Herb-Pharm-Olive-Leaf-66659849/prices-html

You can also get Olive Leaf at Whole Foods Market, and other natural food stores.

Very cheap.

The first time I tried it, I was actually halfway into a major eruption and I drank a bunch of the extract in some water.
AS I WAS DRINKING the stuff down, I could feel the swelling on my lip shrinking...I was in such shock--I ran to the mirror--it was shrinking before my eyes and within ten minutes my lip had returned to NORMAL...I began kissing the bottle of Olive Leaf...yeah, I really did!!

I had tried everything in the past...I can't begin to tell you what I went through...and it's now been 3 YEARS since I've had one!!

I'm not sure if you have a cold sore... I've looked up some information concerning cold sores or fever blisters... maybe the information will help you...

Cold sores or fever blisters are fluid filled blisters that appear on the border of the lips...They are the result of a very contagious virus that has affected most of the population at one time or another,,,

Considering this... I'm thinking that it is not a very good ideal to borrow someone else's toothbrush...

The virus that causes fever blisters is a type of herpes simplex virus... and it enters the body most often in the mouth or nose areas...

At first, the characteristic blisters may or may not result...Antibodies (protective substances) in the body may defend you against the invading virus...

Factors that seem to favor the appearance of blisters include fever, colds, menstruation, skin injury from dental work, excessive sun and wind exposure, and emotional stress.

Sometimes the virus may present no symptoms, so some people are unaware of infection...

The infection can begin with numbness or tenderness in the affected area... Then small-fluid filled blisters appear. These blisters break, encrust, and heal within one to two weeks leaving a scar...

Sometimes excessive pain or swollen lymph glands develop... These symptoms may indicate a secondary bacterial infection that needs a doctor's attention

You may want to try treatments that involves relieving symptoms... since there is no known cure for cold sores or fever blisters... Some over- the- counter remedies may relieve pain and help dry blisters.

Good Luck...

Cold sores area very, very common, and can be picked up easily. Using another person's toothbrush (geez you're nasty!) could cause you to catch the virus if the person has an active cold sore. Kissing or even drinking after someone with an active outbreak can easily transmit the virus.

The virus (HSV-I) is a cousin to the chicken pox virus, herpes zoster; it is a sibling to the genital herpes virus, herpes simplex II.

HSV-I can affect the genitals, but generally isn't as severe as HSV-II. For this reason you should never give oral sex if you even *think* you have a cold sore.

Avoid touching the sore because you can spread viral particles to other parts of your body. You can even give yourself genital herpes. If you get viral particles in your eye, you are in for a world of hurt and maybe blindness.

Zilactin-L will promote healing, and it will temporarily numb the pain. It also forms a film over the sore that tends to keep the virus particles in.

Go see a doctor to get a valtrex prescription. It will only help a little at this point, but keep it on hand for the next time the blisters return because if taken at the first sign of an outbreak, you can nip it in the bud. All of the medical authorities are in favor of bud nipping.

Herpes Simplex. Remains dormant in everyone. The fact that you have a sore festering on your lip could mean you have been dealing with a lot of stressful issues lately. Or, perhaps overexposure to sun or tanning booth. I have cold sore problems sometimes but only notice them when I am under a great deal of pressure or if I have had too much exposure to sun! A daily dose of Lysine 500mg helps keep it dormant. I doubt you caught something from a friend. Just use good hand washing technique and you shouldn't have problem with it spreading any further on your face/lips.

To be completely honest, I read an article that led me to try an ICE CUBE. That's it! Apply an ice cube to the sore a few times a day and it goes away. Going even further, if you change your diet around a bit, you won't even get cold sores anymore. I tried this advice a few months ago and it has worked perfectly.

If it is inside your mouth, it is probably a canker sore. You just have to let that heal and try your best not to irritate that with your toothbrush. If it is on the outside of your mouth, it is probably a cold sore. The cold sore virus can be caught by sharing drinks, cups, etc. Alot of people acquire the virus when they are young even befor ethey are sexually active. it uusally comes about when your immune system is down.

You can catch herpes simplex one ( the kind on your mouth) even from sharing a coke can with someone. Don't feel bad though, although it stinks, it's not as severe as herpes in other areas. Many people suffer with occasional fever blisters.
You might want to go to the doctor, they have medicines you can take and also lotion type meds that really help cold sores/ fever blisters go away much faster.
I have also heard that dabbing a little rubbing alcohol on the area helps dry them up faster too.
If the sore is inside your mouth, it may be just a little ulcer or something and not even related to herpes. Don't worry yourself too much, just get it checked out to ease your mind
