My boyfriend and I developed a bad chesty cough and blocked/runny noses just over a week ago whilst in Florida, and it still hasn't cleared up yet.
The weird thing is, no one else we were with had a cold or developed one after we left. And more concerning is that the symptoms developed during the evening when we had the air conditioning in the hotel room running full belt for the first time during the trip.

It has been 9 days now and, although the symptoms aren't as bad as they have been, we are both still coughing up greenish/yellow phlem all day and our noses are constantly blocked and streaming. We had hot and cold flushes in the first few days but that has cleared up now. At the moment we have been medicating ourselves with lemsips, asprin and cough mixture. But I'm beginning to think we need something stronger.

Do you think this is just a bad cold or could it be pneumonia? And do you think we should see a doctor for stronger drugs?

I've got the same bug (although my nose is blocked rather than runny). This virus lasts over two months and causes wheezing, splutter-like coughs (nose blocked and snot runs down the throat), quite serious eye infections (in me), a leg rash (on me), and after a while a general tired run down feeling. My snopt tends to be white rather than greenish.

Ciprofloxine (spelling?) 750 mg antibiotics seemed to get rid of the symptoms, but they returned when the pills were stopped.

Yes, you can have a runny nose. Sounds like the respiratory infection/flu going around in FL. The anti-biotics didn't help, doctor said it wouldn't. Vaporub was the best thing. Doctor said so too.

If you are coughing up green stuff that is very bad, means infection. you need antibotics. if you have pneumonia you would be sicker, but there is broncitius. I say go to the doctors soon asap
