Is it true that in the Phillipines they eat BBQ Monkey's Hips???

Question

this older man that works with me, said that when he was in the Military (many moons ago) he ate that? That sounds rather, disgusting. Has anyone ever heard of such a delicacy?

I am a Filipino and I can tell you there is no such thing. We do not eat monkeys. Some people can be so ignorant!

Back in old times when food was scarce,they did eat monkeys in order to survive. I was watching a documentary about the US military in the Philippines and during the war, there was a shortage of food which forced the service men to find alternative, means of food, which were monkeys, buffalos, and wild pigs. I am Filipino American [I'm a vegetarian] and from what I know, they do not eat monkeys anymore unless they live in the jungle of the secluded islands and are uncivilized.

maybe before when the older man you were talking about was still in the service,they do cook monkey in the jungle because of food scarcity but in these time,I don't think so.There are still people living in the jungles but they now have livestock to feast on,though there are tribes that eat other animals,like bats and snakes,but monkeys...no

yes this a very good island dish. the way its prepared you wouldn't know that its monkey. it would look like a leg of lamb.this kind of eating is common in islands
