if you are healty and dont have problems with upper airway and central nervous system and spine the water will make you cough and it come back up. if some water stay in the lungs its absorbed.

I think for a small amount, you'd cough it back up, and any residual water would probably get absorbed. And yes, a larger amount would mean you'd drowned.

I'm pretty sure that your lungs will absorb it. If it is a large amount, you'll drown.
