I held an Hawaiian party for my daughter a couple years ago and it was a huge hit.

For decorations, I used the Oriental Trading Company.

For a craft/activity, I had the girls make their own hawaiian shirts, using plain white tee shirts, fabric paints and tropical shaped sponges.

Food was fresh pineapple, Poi (I had to order that online), fresh coconut, sugar cane, etc., as well as a pineapple upside down cake.

Don't forget the hawaiian music! :-)

Food- Pineapple is an obvious choice. Try pineapple smoothies, or pineapple upside down cake. Fruit sald is also good and basically easy.

You could also have Hawaiian pizza or if it's not so casual, Mahi Mahi fish

Hawaiian music is a must- Target always has cd's that play just music, actually I think it is called "Just Relax"

hope this can help a little!

You don't say the age of the guests, but since you need a food craft, I'm willing to bet it's for children.

Check out www.birthdaypartyideas.com. They have a huge list of party ideas (child and adult!) submitted by readers. I think you'll find some great ideas there.

For decorations, there's always Oriental Trading Company!

I am doing a hawaiian reception and have found some great ideas at oriental trader. They have very cheap favors and supplies. We are doing baskets of leis for people to choose from as well as adding flip flop candles to our center pieces. I saw this really great idea that used loofahs for vases and they put fake tropical flowers in them. They were really cute you could dress up they loofahs with bows and charms. Also my invitations are messages in a bottle, I am using that as a center piece. sand water and flowers in a bottle. Very simple and inexpensive. The oriental trader has all kinds of table clothes, lights, scene setters :). Also I found this site that has parties in a box! Very nice!

Both these site have luau party ideas. http://www.evite.com/app/party/ideas.do
http://www.party411.com/index.html
Party City stores have a large amount of luau decorations, as does http://www.orientaltrading.com This is the place to small favors, tattoos and such. On occasion they will offer free S/H. If this party is going to be a blow out in a hall, look at this site for party theme ideas. Look for tropical/luau. http://www.stumpsprom.com

lots of hibiscus flowers, fruit, lays and hula skirts! use sand wherever you can!!! if you are using fresh pineapple for drinks keep the top spiky part to decorate fruit salad or better yet cut top off pineapple scoop out centre of the pineapple and put fruit salad inside you could do the same with a watermelon! if you are planning to cook char grilled watermelon with balsamic vinegar is yum!<(*_*)>

You could buy a loaf of hawiian bread, dig out the center and insert a container of spinach dip.
Also, you could hollow out a pinapple and fill it with fruit salad and sprinkle it with coconut
