I like some kinds of fish...like lobster, crab, & shrimp - that's about it...so would I like sea scallops? Can someone describe the actual taste & texture of scallops....more importantly, "Pan Seared Sea Scallops"?

Thanks in advance!!

Scallops taste like little bits of heaven. They are similar in texture to crab and lobster... but have their own unique taste. Pan seared sea scallops are great, especially if they are seared with some garlic butter. Another great way (and I think the BEST way) to eat scallops is wrapped in BACON. MMMMM. So good. You want to make sure that you stay away from breaded scallops though, takes away from the scallop itself.

It's a sweeter seafood. If you love crab and lobster, you'll love scallops. The smaller the sweeter. U-10s are bitter. Bay scallops are the sweetest. The texture is really no different from crab or lobster. It should be easy to chew, if they're tough they're overcooked.

Hard to describe because they have a very unique taste. If you like seafood then definitely give it a try. Scallops are by far my favorite type of seafood and if you like seafood you will not be disappointed.

absolutely delicious! they melt in the mouth though have a slightly slimey interior (if cooked properly). They are not strong tasting and pan seared sea scallops are delicious with Parsnip puree.

enjoy!

I love sea scallops rapped in smoked bacon and its actually cooked in bacon grease. It reminds you of shrimp and crab mixed.

Scallops are little on the rubbery side. Have you ever had calamari? It takes like that to me. It's not anywhere near as good as lobster, crab or shrimp to me, but why not try them! If they are overdone, they are really, REALLY rubbery.

scallops are SO good. there's not really a taste though. well, there is, but it's very subtle. if you like those other seafoods, you should be okay with scallops.

It tastes like mix of everything you stated! it's really soft and chewy when grilled ( how i like it) just a tiny bit hard on the outside, but insides always really most and plump. Too bad it's so expensive!
