Depends on the fraternity.

If it is a "dry" fraternity, obviously anything involving drinking would be inappropriate.

If it is a Christian fraternity, or based on any certain religion, strippers, gambling, etc. would not be prudent, I'm thinking.

Otherwise, I would suggest one of the following themes:
Poker- Set up a short (2-3 hour) poker tournament, a la World Series of Poker.
Holiday- Theme your party around a certain holiday, such as Mardi Gras or St. Patty's Day (plenty of possibilities for debauchery there, if that's the goal).
Pimp 'n' Ho- Good theme if you are inviting members of a sorority.
Members-based Theme- Base your theme on something that appeals to a good number of your frat's members. For example, if your frat is big into NCAA basketball, go that route. If you're going this way, it would be a good idea to ask for suggestions from the frat members themselves.

No matter what you ultimately choose, one piece of advice to you, and I hope you take it. Since you are in charge of organizing the party/parties, PLEASE choose someone to be a "monitor". I know it sounds preachy, but I used to have a close friend when I attended college who died of alcohol poisoning at a frat party, playing a drinking game. If you are a member of the frat, you are brothers, and should care for your fellow members as such, right? Wouldn't you want your brother to be safe. Enough preaching.

You probably know all the drinking games. One variation on quarters, if you were to do a poker theme, would be winner of each hand takes a drink (not a shot, a DRINK of beer, whatever) or gives someone else a drink, or splits ten drinks among whoever is at the poker table, etc.

Have fun, don't knock anyone up!

Date Party Ideas

A Reno, Nv Frat house has a slip and slide party. They visqueene the livingroom with construction grade plastic sheeting and invite their girl friends. Then there are the beer pong games that go on endlessly in the basements. Toilet papering parties on rival frats are fun too. When throwing food gatherings ask local businesses to contribute food or beverages, its amazing to find out who will contribute. Also ask at school about painting the rocks that adorn your schools letter oh and invite your local firemen over for a breakfast brunch.

Let's see, when I went to college we had quite a few mixers as we called them. Some common themes are , of course, Toga party.

Heaven and Hell party
60s theme (lots of tie dye clothes)
Grab a date parties (you have a set amount of time to find a date and bring her to the party)
Hairy Buffalo party (involves grain alcohol)

As long as you have lots of beer you will have tons of fun no matter what the theme is. The following site should be very helpful!

At the risk of sounding cliche the toga is always a classic. Whenever your schools sports teams win is always a good reason, then there's homecoming.

In short, your in a fraternity, you don't need a reason to party!!!!

Well it depends on if the party is going to be at their frat house, someones apartment, or at a club/bar. but i would say something casual, you've already dressed up your jeans by pairing them with boots. if its at a house, dont wear what you would wear to a club, keep the boots, but a simple cute top would be nice if its at a house.

I'm good with this

throw a vegas theme, hire strippers or go go dancers
get rolet tables, poker tables, order different foods so its like
your at a buffet like the one i went to in vegas. get bouncers or FAKE councers

you can have a toga party or you can have a beach party which they guys will love cuz all the girls will be in bathing suits.

if you need help go to party911.com its the best!

have a tie party. Its invite only and the guy sends the girl a tie to wear (as the invitation) They will know their date because they will be wearing the same tie when they arrive.

One of our chapters had a graffiti party - they hung large sheets of paper on the walls and plain white t-shirts to the party goers. Large supplies of magic markers, crayons and such were provided for people to express themselves on the walls or on each other. (Caution: Drunk people with markers may not respect the usual limits on what they are or aren't supposed to mark on; observe sensible precautions to minimize collateral damage.)
