The normal blood sugar range used to be listed as 80-120. Today there are several different blood sugar monitoring devices and ranges depend upon the type that you are using. They range anywhere from 70-130 now depending on the machine you are using to test it. Each individual is also different and can have a different range that is best for them. I had one elderly patient who had to keep hers above 130 or she would become very confused. For her the ideal range was between 130-160 Blood sugars at 60 or less do result in death of brain cells as well as damage to other organs and need to be treated quickly to minimize the damage.

Fasting Normal Range Blood Sugar Levels.
<100mg/dl in the U.S.
< 6.1 mmol/L in Canada

Acceptable Fasting Sugars with Diabetes
90-130 mg/dl in the US
4-7 mmol/l in Canada

For people without diabetes, it's 60-105.
For diabetics, it depends on your medications and what the doctor wants you to be.

for a non diabetic it should be under 100. (but not too low either so 65 -100)

85-90.......... I believe,,,,,,,, lower that that and you have hypoglycemic
