Yes they are. I have my own sausage roll factory. I kill about 1000 sausage dogs a week to make my sausage rolls.

No they are not made from sausage dogs - they are made BY sausage dogs but that is just cruel. The poor dogs have to work in 3rd world conditions 14 hours a day and they only get paid £1 a week. I've started a campain to stop this please join - www.freethesausagedogfactoryworkers.org.uk

They usually comprise textured soy protein and/or wheat gluten. The amount of added fat will vary according to the brand, but it is generally not too high. They are a high-protein, low-fat product, for the most part. They sometimes contain high levels of salt, so those on sodium-restricted diets will want to keep their consumption to a minimum. Yves is one company that makes a vegan sausage (bratwurst). Morningstar Farms sausages, contain egg whites, so as with most things veg*an, you'll have to be an avid label reader. Most seem to be sold without casings. I'm guessing the factories have machinery which molds and firms the sausages/dogs so that the customer won't have to bother with removing the casings. I have made vegan sausages with cellulose casings but they are inedible and must be removed.

Ha! ha! Yes, and since so-called sausage dogs are really called badger hounds(Dachshund) - there's a good chance that a sausage roll contains a large quantity of badger meat. Each to his own.
