Have you ever cooked using ginkgo nuts? Or your family, say grandmother? I tried several times gathering fresh ones, cleaning them, and cooking (boiling and roasting). The end was a little disappointing - bland, boring.

I never roasted them, but I remember cracking the shell and putting them into steam egg custard(chawan-mushi). I think that's the best way to eat them. Ginko nuts aren't my favorite, but I think that's the dish you should try them in. Try searching "chawanmushi."

I've never eaten them on their own before. We've always only used it for soups and desserts, just as another ingredient but not for flavour.

I personally don't really like the taste of them but it's supposedly good for memory.

They are bland by themselves; the make a nice addition to soups and stir-fried dishes, however.

I added them to some Multigrain Rice, and some stir-fries and soups. They were yummy.

you can't just eat them alone, they must be added with other stuff.
