In the VERY technical sense, Genital Warts (caused by the HPV virus) can lie dormant in the body and take years to show any symptoms. Sometimes, they will never show symptoms but are still able to pass the disease on to other people.
But in most cases, symptoms show up within 3 months of exposure. If you have never shown symptoms, he's probably been cheating on you.
HPV is a nasty disease... the only STD that can be passed on even with condom use (because the disease is in the skin cells around the gentalia and not in the sexual fluids). It is also the cause of cervical cancer. I would seriously recommend you get annual pap smears, especially if you do not do so already.

Ive recently been diagnosed with this and have a leaflet about it right infront of me...regarding how long HPV (genital warts) takes to appear it says the following: if warts do appear (because not everybody gets them) this can happen from two weeks to several months or longer after coming into contact with the virus.
That is what my leaflet says about it. I got symptoms (personally) about 3-4 months after I slept with the guy who had it.....also you should know that you do not have to have sex with someone to get Genital warts, skin to skin contact is enough. Also condoms do not protect against the virus because its unlikely that the condom will cover all of the affected area's so if you ahve slept with him...half expect to get it too. Im not sure if the statement in the leaflet that i quoted you above means it can take years for the virus to come out...it just says several months or longer, so thats open to translation as to how long? I would sit down and have a chat with your partner because id say 7 years later is a bit extreme (that is if he had a partner before you, you dont say?) Anyway goodluck with it all and if you want any further advice send me an email...ive got loads of info on the subject having it myself..

Well men are the carriers for the HPV virus. HPV has no visible signs, and is untreatable, so he would not know he has it unless he gets tested. Also, yes it can lay dormant for several years, and cause warts. I will say this I have HPV and have had it for 4 years, when I found out I had it I got tested for everything and was clean. Three weeks ago I had an outbreak of herpes (sucks I know) so I went to the doctor and got tested along with my husband. I have herpes and he does not. It was a resent infection caused by my HPV. I never cheated on my husband, and he know that. So yes he could have HPV and not know it and then get warts. The only thing I do not understand is if you have been going to the doctor and getting your yearly pap smear they would know you have HPV. You should contact your doctor and go in and get tested. I hope this info helps. Best of luck!

There is maybe one excuse for him here in that warts are a virus and are therefore stored in the body. Unfortunately they can flare up at any time, so potentially he could have caught them before he met you and is now experiencing an outbreak. This answer is highly unlikely but a remote possibility. The chances are that he has infected you so get yourself checked quickly as this virus is the primary cause of cervical cancer. Sorry love, I really think he has been unfaithful though, so do some checking elsewhere to see if he is guilty or not.

depends when the last time he was tested it is possible for genital warts to remain dormant for a long time without ever showing any sympotms however if youre husband has been tested in the last seven years and got it after the test was negative then he most definetly cheated on you but if this was the first time he ever was tested
you can assume he cheated on you but there is a possibility that youre wrong and the disease has just been dormant however if he transmitted it to you then you should ask yourself when you noticed the system and try to trace back the entire 30 day margin you two had intercourse and see if the possibility that he could have cheated between that time was there

Genital warts can lay dormant for years as it's actually caught in the form of a virus. How many years I'm not sure but apparently it's harder for a women to tell shes got them than men due to the female genitalia.

genital warts can remain dormant and re-occur years later a friend of mine found out a year and a half after her divorce !
look at the evidence if he's been locked in a cupboard for the last year then it's possible he hasn't done anything wrong ,
but
if he's been coming home late then he probably has .

i am not going to tell you he has or hasn't been cheating on you. genital warts is caused by the virus hpv. hpv can lie dormant in your body for up to 10 years. my best friend just got diagnosed with genital warts and she has not had sex at all in 8 years. this is her first breakout. i went with her to the dr's appt which is how i know this. so, it is very possible for him to have gotten it before he ever met you, but i will say this. if this makes you not trust him, then follow your heart. don't put yourself at risk for someone you aren't sure about

hiya,
I am sorry to say that if your partner has genital warts, there is a possibility (distinct) that he has been unfaithful to you. Genital warts are a herpes based virus that can be passed on through sexual intimacy.
See your medical practitioner for a check-up.
Hope this helps.
