Deoxygenated blood is returned from the body to the right side of the heart (right atrium then into the right ventricle). The blood then is pumped to the lungs where it is oxygenated. The freshly oxygenated blood then returns to the left side of the heart (first left atrium then to the left ventricle). The left ventricle then pumps the oxygenated blood to the rest of the body.

The left atrium. The blood flows from the pulmonary vein from the lungs in to the left heart. The first chamber is the left atrium then it spills into the left ventricle to be pushed into the aorta.

The left ventricle is the driving force that sends the blood throughout the body, so when the blood is oxygenated it is pumped into the aorta which splits and goes to the head and to the rest of the body.
